Tank Battle is a free tank game where two tanks face each other across a hilly field and take turns firing shells. Pick your angle and power, allow for the wind and land a shot on the enemy before it lands one on you. Every explosion digs a crater, so the ground changes as the fight goes on. Beat one enemy and a tougher one rolls in. It runs in your browser with no download and no signup.
How to Play
- Aim roughly: press anywhere and drag back, like pulling a slingshot. The barrel points the opposite way, and a longer drag means more power. Letting go does not fire.
- Fine-tune: the angle (in degrees) and power (in percent) are shown at the bottom. Tap − or + to change them by 1, or hold to keep changing. On a computer, ← → change the angle and ↑ ↓ the power; hold Shift to step by 5.
- Fire: press FIRE or Enter. Or hold Space to charge: the power climbs to 100% and back down, and the shot goes when you let go.
- Adjust from your last shot: your previous shot's path stays on screen as a faint line, and its angle and power are shown, so you can change one number at a time until you hit.
- Wind: changes every turn and pushes the shell sideways in flight.
- Win the level by bringing the enemy's health to zero. Lose all of yours and the game is over.
Shells
- Shell — unlimited, solid damage.
- Triple — three smaller shells in a spread, 2 per level. Good when you're not sure of the range.
- Mega — one big shell with a huge blast, 1 per level.
Levels and Terrain
The battlefield changes every level, in a cycle of five:
- Rolling Hills — grassy hills with a rise in the middle.
- Deep Valley — two high plateaus with a deep valley between them.
- Broken Bridge — both tanks stand on a wooden bridge over a river. Shells blow holes in the planks, and a tank whose bridge is shot away falls into the river and is out.
- Snow Peak — one tall mountain in the middle, so every shot has to go high.
- Twin Islands — two sandy islands with open water between. Shells that land in the water just splash.
Each enemy has more health than the last and aims better, and the wind gets stronger. You get some health back between levels. Damage you deal and each level you win add to your score.
Tips
- Use your misses. Watch where a shot lands and adjust the next one a little.
- Lob high in strong wind only if the wind is behind you; into the wind, shoot flatter.
- On the bridge, aim at the planks. A hole under the enemy tank drops it into the river, no matter how much health it has left.
- Dig the enemy in. A crater under the enemy tank drops it lower and harder to reach for its own shots.
- Save Mega for when you have the range right.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you play the tank game?
You and an enemy tank take turns firing over the hills. Drag back on the screen to aim, fine-tune the angle and power with the − and + buttons or the arrow keys, then press FIRE. On a computer you can also hold Space to charge the power and let go to fire.
How does the wind work?
Every turn has a new wind, shown at the top of the screen. The arrow shows which way it blows and the number how hard. Wind pushes your shell sideways the whole time it is in the air.
What are Triple and Mega shells?
A Shell is unlimited. Triple fires three smaller shells in a spread, and you get two per level. Mega is one big shell with a much larger blast, and you get one per level.
Can I hit my own tank?
Yes. A blast close to your own tank hurts you too, and craters can drop your tank into a hole. Keep your shots clear of yourself.
What happens on the bridge level?
Both tanks stand on a wooden bridge over a river. Every blast can knock out planks, and if the bridge under a tank is shot away, that tank falls into the river and loses at once. Aim at the planks under the enemy, and keep enemy shells away from your own feet.
Is the tank game free?
Yes. It is a free browser game with nothing to buy: no download, no signup and no account. Your best score is saved in your browser.
